In an effort to offer fresher and healthier food options to public school children, the Utah State Board of Education is providing funding to Murray and other school districts to offer locally-produced beef on our school lunch menus.
MCSD, through our food services provider SODEXO, will begin offering beef in servings of chili, nachos, and hamburgers to students. Our school nutrition department will purchase from two farms, one in Colorado and another in Boulder, UT.
The majority supplier will be Headwaters Cattle and Guest Ranch, which recently received a 2023 Conservation Achievement Award for feeding and environmental practices. This means the source offers a safe and more environmentally sound food source for a key ingredient to foods children love.
