A Brief History of HILLCREST JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
The original structure was built in 1911 as Hillcrest School and served grades 1-8. From 1913-16 there was a change to a student body of 7th-12th graders. From 1916-54 the school was renamed Murray High & Junior High, and then served specifically as Murray Junior High from 1954-1960. The building was once again renamed the current name of Hillcrest Junior High in the 1960-61 school year, with many additions and structural changes taking place over the years. The ground was broken for a new Hillcrest Junior High School in June 2013. The state-of-the-art new school opened for the 2015-2016 school year.
