Honoring the "Spark" in Our Murray Classrooms

As we head toward Teacher Appreciation Week in May, Western Governors University is providing a wonderful opportunity for our Murray families to give back to the educators who give our kids their all every single day. This month, WGU is accepting nominations that recognize the “sparks” in Murray classrooms.
We all know that one teacher—the one who stayed late to explain a math concept, the one who noticed a student was having a rough day, or the one who turned a boring subject into a lifelong passion.
WGU is looking to honor these incredible individuals, and they’ve asked us to invite parents and neighbors who see this hard work firsthand to let them know.
How You Can Take Action
If a Murray teacher has made a real difference in your child's life (or your own!), WGU is inviting you to nominate them for a special award. Here is what you need to know:
-
Tell Their Story: You don’t need to write a novel. Just share a short story of the positive impact or "spark" that teacher has provided.
-
The Deadline: Nominations are being accepted now through May 2, 2026.
-
The Big Event: Selected teachers will be honored with a special recognition ceremony at WGU Headquarters on May 18, 2026.
