Murray City School District Announces Key Dates and Registration for 2026-27 School Year

As the summer months approach, the Murray City School District has officially released its launch guide details and key dates for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. For district parents mapping out their late summer calendars, here is the essential, evidence-based breakdown of registration dates, required documentation, and back-to-school events.
Student Registration Timelines
Online registration workflows differ depending on whether a student is returning to the district or enrolling for the first time.
-
Returning Students (Grades K–12): Online registration for all returning students who previously attended MCSD opens on July 28. Kindergarten registration originally opened in March and will close temporarily on June 18 before re-opening alongside the general student population on July 28. Parents who prefer to register a returning student in person should contact their child's specific school to coordinate.
-
New Students: Parents of students who have never been enrolled in the district (including the Early Childhood Education Center) can begin the online registration process starting July 28 via the MCSD Registration Portal.
Important Policy Note for Re-enrolling Families: If a student previously attended an MCSD school, left the district, and is now returning, registration cannot be finalized purely online. Instead, families must complete the process in person at the school during its designated registration day.
Required Documentation for New & Returning-Move-In Students
All new students, as well as returning students who previously left the district, must bring physical copies of the following verification documents to their assigned school on their designated registration day (if they have not already submitted them):
-
Proof of Identity: The student's original, certified birth certificate, passport, or I-94 form.
-
Medical Records: The student's official immunization records.
-
Academic Transcripts: For new high school students, physical transcripts covering 9th grade to the present must be provided.
-
Proof of Residency: Two distinct proofs of residency are required for families living within school boundaries. For out-of-district students, an official email of acceptance satisfies this residency verification requirement.
What Qualifies as Valid Proof of Residency?
The district enforces strict criteria regarding which financial and legal documents establish residency:
| Document Type | Requirements / Accepted Examples |
|
Dated within 60 Days |
Must provide one primary document: Lease agreement, mortgage statement, or utility bill . AND one secondary document: Driver's license, letter from an approved government agency, payroll stub, bank or credit card statement, vehicle registration/insurance, or a medical bill. |
|
Dated within 12 Months |
A valid W-2 form or a property tax bill. |
|
Non-Qualifying Documents |
The following items do not establish proof of residency: Power of attorney, letters from family or friends, general property owned within boundaries, or a PO Box. |
