What Every Murray Family Should Know About Translation Support Services

When parents and schools work together, students thrive. Recognizing the vital role families play in their children’s academic journeys, the Murray City School District is dedicated to ensuring every parent can actively participate in their child's education—no matter what language they speak at home.
Under Utah Code 53G-7-223 and Murray School District Board Policy GS 05, all parents have the right to receive educational information and communicate with schools in a language they understand, completely free of charge. Even if you speak some English, or if your child is fluent in English, the district is committed to bridging any communication gaps so you never miss a beat.
What You Can Expect as a Murray Parent
From the day you enroll your child, the district asks for your preferred language to ensure you receive tailored communication throughout the school year. You can expect translated documents and professional interpreters for all key moments, including:
-
Enrollment & Registration: Smooth onboarding for new and returning students.
-
School News & Rules: Timely updates on school policies, newsletters, and student discipline guidelines.
-
Health, Safety & Emergencies: Immediate alerts regarding weather closures, safety protocols, and health notices.
-
Special Education Support: Comprehensive guidance regarding services for students with disabilities and individualized plans.
Where to Find Your Translated Documents
Most written communication and district documents are delivered directly through ParentSquare, the district's primary tool for school-to-home communication.
When a school sends out newsletters, forms, or announcements, ParentSquare automatically translates these documents, posts, and alerts into your preferred language. This ensures you receive important written materials seamlessly on your phone or computer without having to manually request a translation.
Tip: While ParentSquare handles most written communications, if you ever receive a printed paper document in a language other than your own, simply let your school know whether you would prefer a written translation or an oral explanation!
Meetings and In-Person Conversations
Whether you are attending a parent-teacher conference, discussing special education options, or simply checking in on your child's progress, the district provides trained, fluent interpreters for live conversations—either in person or over the phone.
To ensure accurate, respectful, and confidential communication, schools only use qualified adult interpreters (never students or children).
